Steven Joseph Kavanagh, 71 and Carolynn Elaine Jerabek-Kavanagh, 69 of Sartell, MN and Sun City AZ died on November 23, 2020 near Winslow, AZ as a result of a motor vehicle crash, along with one of their dogs, Angel.
Steve was born on May 17, 1949 to Marcellus and Alice Kavanagh in Benson, MN. He attended school in Murdock, graduating in 1967. Caroylnn was born January 22, 1951 in Hutchinson, MN to Walter and Peggy Jerabek. She attended country school near Crow River, graduating from Payneville High School in 1968.
After high school, Steve attended the University of Minnesota, Morris before joining the Air Force in 1968. Stationed out of the Philippines, he also served one tour in Vietnam. After returning to civilian life, Steve worked in the construction industry before starting his career at the MN Department of Transportation. Carolynn graduated from the St. Cloud Hospital School of Radiation Technology in 1970 and began her career as an X-Ray Tech.
Steve and Carolynn met, dated, and eventually married on October 5, 1991. Their life together began in Willmar, MN. A promotion for Steve led the couple to Duluth, MN for a few years and eventually to the St. Cloud area in 1993 where he finished his career as a bridge maintenance supervisor. Carolynn continued her career as an X-Ray Tech during this time, with many years working at the St. Cloud Hospital in the surgery/emergency department. Carolynn always warned us each year to not clear our jammed snowblowers with our hands because she didn't want to see us in surgery! Both Steve and Carolynn were highly respected and well liked by colleagues wherever life took them.
They are preceded in death by their parents Walter and Peggy Jerabek, Marcellus and Alice Kavanagh, sister-in-law Connie Jerabek, and brother Michael Kavanagh.
