She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Preston, Idaho, to Charles Joel and Zeffie " Zeffa" Fern Bennett Peterson. She was the sixth of seven children and grew up in a loving home.
After high school graduation, she entered the Latter-day Saint Hospital school of nursing in Idaho Falls, Idaho, graduating as a registered nurse in 1945. In 1947, she moved to San Diego, Calif., and worked in a doctor's office there.
Fern met Herb Poteet in San Diego, and they were married May 22, 1949. While living in Lakeside, Susan joined the family, and after moving to San Miguel in central California, Richard and Bonnie completed the family.
In 1960, Herb and Fern purchased their farm on the Northside of Rupert, Idaho, where they have since resided. Fern worked for many years in the community, both in the doctor's office and the hospital. After retiring, she was "on call" for many years, helping out neighbors, ward members, and friends who needed some nursing expertise.
Fern was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had a testimony of Jesus Christ, and served in many Church callings.
She is survived by her three children, Susan Bell (Jeff), of Twin Falls, Rick Poteet (Sherma) of Rupert, and Bonnie Peterson (Ron) of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 16 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
