Christ Jakob Rieger. They had two sons, Ernest and
Carl Henry Rieger. Shortly after their marriage, the Rieger's moved to Eustis Nebraska. They returned to Seward County Nebraska where they built their farm home. Lauisa lost her husband Chris to brain cancer in 1951. She continued to live on their homeplace until a few years before her death. She moved into town to a smaller place and resided in Utica at the time of her death in 1972.
Lauisa was a wonderful great-grandmother. I have so many memories of spending summer vacation on the farm. Grandma Lizzie, as we called her, was up before the chickens and had breakfast ready when we came downstairs. She made pancakes from scratch. They were so good I can still taste them. We always had a good time at Grandma's. She let us play to our heart's content. She kept a jar full of old buttons, and lots of coloring books and colors. We could dress up in her old fashioned clothes and play with her jewelry. There was lots of work to be done too, but Grandma always made it seem to be so much fun.
Grandma liked to drink a beer every now and then, and she loved to laugh and have a good time. I can't recall her getting angry at us, (my sisters and cousins and I). She had the patience of a saint. I only wish today that I had spent more time talking with her about her life. I don't know much about her personal history. She was always just grandma Lizzie to me. She is loved and missed to this very day.
