John "Coach" Clarence Hamilton, eighty-one years of age, passed away on October 15, 2017.
He was a retired high school teacher and coach with the EBR Parish school system with over thirty years of service with twenty-two years spent at McKinley Senior High School and eleven plus years at Baton Rouge Magnet High School.
John was a Southern University graduate and went on to have a distinguished high school coaching career in Louisiana sports. His involvement in organizations included Louisiana Retired Teacher Associations, Southern University Quarterback Club, Southern University Alumni (Lifetime Member), Louisiana High School Athletic Association, and the Capitol High Class of '55.
Coach is survive by his wife, Carolyn B Hamilton; daughter, Adrian K Hamilton; son, John Clarence (Gina) Hamilton Jr; step-son, Dwight (Toni) Herson Jr; step-daughter, Milo "Kristy" Conley; two sisters, Erma (Nathaniel) Montgomery and Janice (Claude Jr) Sterling; and his grandchildren, Simon Hamilton, Lela Hamilton, Jaxon Hamilton, Donovan Hamilton, Julian Hamilton, Rhyan Conley, Christian Conley, Katelin Polar, and Aaron Webber.
He was preceded in death by a son, Darryl Q Hamilton; his parents, James Sr and Celestine Morrison Hamilton; four brothers Allen, Robert, James, and Alfred Hamilton; and a sister, Gloria C Cooper.
