Normand L. Adair, 97, of Muskegon, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Norm was born on June 6, 1921 to William James and Jeanette (Poisson) Adair in Detroit. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary. Following his service in the United States Air Force during WWII, he married the former Mary Easley on September 9, 1944. He was a school psychologist for Muskegon County for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he also loved to travel. Norm's passions were flying and boating, and he loved sharing those experiences with his grandchildren. To his credit, Norm was the author of the ABC Inventory, to help determine school readiness of children, it is still being used today nationally and internationally.
Normand is survived by his children, Patricia (Bob Lake) Hesling and Katherine (Steve) Habetler; grandchildren, Jon (Jessica) Habetler, Charles (Janelle) DeWald, Don (Jodi) Hesling III, Amanda (Leon) Parker, James (Jim Dean) DeWald; great-grandchildren, Jon Habetler, Savannah Habetler, Darcy Parker, Roland Hesling and Reid Hesling; his niece, Nancy Frain; nephews, Ron (Robin) Easley and Jon (Barb) Easley; and a host of compassionate caregivers. Normand was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary; daughter, Donna Adair; brother-in-law, William Easley and son-in-law, Donald Hesling Jr. There will be a Memorial Service at a later date. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Saranac. Memorial Contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice Foundation or the Child Abuse Council.
