Anthony Todd Eads, 58, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born on July 31, 1962 in Greencastle, Indiana; the son of Norman Kent and Gerda (Vanderfliet) Eads.
Anthony graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School. He went on to become a firefighter with the City of Bloomington Fire Department. He served at many stations, serving at Station 4 and Station 5 the longest. Anthony retired as a Senior Driver, after 31 years of service. In addition, he owned and operated Anthony's Lawn Care for 28 years. Anthony was a kind and generous man. He enjoyed golfing, music, dancing and movies. Anthony had a long time interest in scuba diving and became a certified diver along with his daughter. He took many trips and dove with his daughter in beautiful waters. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and watching the Chicago Cubs. Anthony had a knack for cooking; he loved to cook a comforting meal for family and friends, and those at the firehouse. His greatest joy was his daughter Emma, wife Cathy, and making those around him laugh. He had an infectious smile, loud laugh, giant heart, and a gentle soul.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Cathy (Upchurch) Eads; daughter, Emma Matavuli (Lindsay McGuire); mother, Gerda Eads; brother, Eric (Linda) Eads; and nephew, Josh Eads. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Kent Eads and his grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington. Rev. Harold Godsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Anthony's family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
