Clarksburg - Word was received here Monday of the death of William Mumford, 55, veteran of World War I, who died at the veteran's hospital, Dayton, Sunday. He had been given treatment at the Chillicothe veterans' hospital for several months prior to his removal to Dayton.
He was born in Clarksburg the son of Frank and Hulda Consoliver Mumford. He was a blacksmith by trade and followed that business in Clarksburg for a number of years before World War I.
His wife the former Carrie Knox preceded him in death. He is survived by a son Porter Mumford of Columbus, a brother Marcus of Clarksburg and a sister Mrs. George Kirkwood of Norwood.
Service will be conducted at the Dayton hospital, Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. Details of the interment have not been announced.
