Hartford Christopher (Bill) Dew, 70, a Broward resident since 1921, died yesterday in a Myrtle Beach, S.C.. hospital following an automobile accident. He had been in the dragline and sand fill business most of the time since he came here 47 years ago from South Carolina. He retired five years ago from a sand fill pt business on NW 26th St., which he operated with a brother, Leonard M. In 1934-40, he worked for the United Fruit Co. in several Central American countries. He served in the Army during World War II. According to his family, Dew was driving on Hwy. 17 north of Myrtle Beach about 9 a.m. yesterday when he apparently blacked out . His car hit a parked vehicle and then careened into a concrete building. He died two hours later in a hospitaL Dew was in South Carolina visiting a sister, Mrs., Betsan Taylor, and also attending to property he owned there. Also surviving are his widow, Ada P.; two grandchildren, four other brothers, including Rue- ben, L. H. and H. B., all of Ft Laudedale and two others sis ters, including Mrs. Ella Bart lett of Ft. Lauderdale. Funeral services will be held at 2 .m. tomorrow at Fannin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clarence Stauffer officiating. Burial will be in Lauderdale Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 tonight.
