Darryl "DJ" Koenig
February 24, 1954 - June 06, 2021

Manitowoc - Darryl Francis James Koenig "DJ," age 67, resident of Manitowoc, formally of Tisch Mills, WI, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and surrounded by his loved ones, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Darryl was born on February 24, 1954 in Tisch Mills WI, to the late Norbert and Florence Koenig. He graduated Mishicot High School with the class of 1972. Darryl spent most of his working years employed at Mirro Aluminum Company, until their closure in 2003, then spent his remaining years at Eggers until he retired in 2009.

After graduating high school, Darryl married the love of this life, Barbara. They raised 2 children, Kimberly and Christopher.

Darryl is preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Florence Koenig, two brothers Robert Koenig and David (Julie) Koenig, and his lifelong friend and brother-in-law, Timothy Chevalier.

Darryl is survived by his wife Barb, daughter Kimberly (Thomas) Kudick, Manitowoc, son Christopher (Kristina) Koenig, Manitowoc. Darryl also had six grandchildren, Skylar (Mitchell), Storm, Kayne, Zayden, Gryffin, Phoenix, and one great-granddaughter, his Angel on Earth, Eden Nicole. One brother, Jerald (Mary) Koenig, Reedsville, two sisters, Jeanne Koenig, Manitowoc, and Sharon (Allen) Lambert, Columbus, WI.

Darryl loved nothing more than spending time with his family. If you knew Darryl, you knew who his family was. There was never a man prouder to be called Dad than he was. Whether it was decorating the Christmas tree, carving pumpkins, or decorating cookies, you would always find him at the table with his grandkids in the holiday spirit, making memories and messes. When the holidays came around, he was just as excited as his grandkids were to celebrate. And even though he will no longer be there to help decorate the cookies he was going to eat, we know he will always be sitting at our table besides us, watching us as we decorate his for him. When his Angel Eden was born, she was his world and the person that kept him fighting until the very end. When DJ was not with his family, you could find him down at the corner bar singing his heart out. Darryl was known to many as a quiet man, except for Saturday nights. DJ loved nothing more than to get up on stage and to sing and entertain the crowd. We already know what his plans are for this coming Saturday. Cheers DJ.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. Private burial will take place in Knollwood Memorial Gardens.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
