Gerald was born November 30, 1930 in Columbiaville. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a proud member of the Lapeer VFW Post 4139, American Legion Post 457 in North Branch, and the 40&8 Voiture of Lapeer. He also enjoyed country music, especially bluegrass. Most of all Gerald loved spending time with his family and friends.
Gerald is survived by his son Gary (Jayne) Butterfield, sister Clio Hilts, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Verna, wife Grace, sons: Terry and Jerry, siblings: Skip and Maxine, and grand-daughter Erica.
Cremation has taken place, and Gerald's cremains will be placed at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at later date.
