Art was born in Joplin, Missouri on November 27, 1928 to Thelma and Arthur Helms. Art moved to Pittsburg and began attending Mosaic in 2000.
Art's faith was very important to him and he loved reading his Bible and listening to gospel music. He attended Church at Wesley House for many years. Art loved watching old westerns and spending time with his friends. He had a great sense of humor, was very ornery and loved joking around with others. His smile was contagious.
He leaves behind many long time friends from Mosaic, including his best friend Charlie Webb of Girard, KS and his guardian Sherry Blagg-Staggs of Frontenac, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lillie Mae Helms of Pittsburg, brother Donald Lee Helms of Nashville, MO and brother Bill Helms of Arkansas.
A visitation will be held at 10 am on Tuesday June 15, 2021 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, graveside service will immediately follow at 11 am at Highland Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Mosaic in Southeast Kansas Memorial Fund; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
