She was preceded in death by parents Marguerite and Edmund Casey; brothers Donald, Kevin, Phillip and sister Patricia Kiley.
Marie was born on Sept 7, 1921 in Litchfield, MN, graduated from Litchfield High School, enrolled in the St. Cloud Hospital nurses training as a R. N. after which she proudly served in the Navy as a commissioned Lieutenant j.g.stationed at US Naval Hospital, Bethesda, MD and USMC Air Station, Cherry Point, NC.
After WW II, she lived in Rochester MN working at the Mayo Clinic and St. Marys Hospital. It was in Rochester that she met Emanuel "Bud" Herman whom she married in Aug 1950.
Because of Emanuel's job the family moved to Winona, Northfield and Owatonna. It was in Owatonna that she worked for NW Bell Telephone Co. until she retired in 1987.
She is survived by Emanuel her husband of 69 yrs; children Catherine(David) Williams, Thomas(Gayle), Richard (Aurea), Ruth Ann(Michael) Stein, and Daniel (Shannon) Herman; grandchildren Heather, Blake(Emily) Williams, Caitlin(Jeffrey) Swenson, Scott (Hannah) Herman, Adam(Sarah)Herman, Alicia(Jamin) Aahl, Ross Herman, Caroline Stein, Lucas(Kristin) Stein, Madeline Stein, Nicholas, Andrew, Patrick, Connor and Van Herman; and great grandchildren: Charlotte, Liam, Wyatt, Crosby, Henley, Folsom, Shepherd and Emmanuel.
She is also survived by 4 sister-in-laws and 3 brother-in-laws.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Telephone Pioneers, and Counsel of Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and needlepoint, she enjoyed travel and stories of her many family members.
