Prince Umberto di Savoia-Aosta, Conte di Salemi, was the youngest son of Amedeo, Duke of Aosta, and King of Spain, r. 1870-1873, by his second wife, Princess Marie Laetitzia Bonaparte (his niece), and the only child of his father's second marriage. Although initially reported to have died in battle, he died as a result of the influenza pandemic. He was buried in the cemetery of Crespano del Grappa, but in 1926 his remains were moved to the Sacrario Militare del Monte Grappa.
