"E. J. Ray, familiarly known as "Ed" of this city, passed away early this morning at the University hospital at Iowa City where he was recently operated on and complications developed.
He was 82 years old at the time of his passing. Mr. Ray had been a pioneer resident of Boone county, having resided in the Mineral Ridge community and in this city nearly all his life. He is survived by his wife, and many relatives. His brother, Fred Ray, of Rapid City, S.D., was with him and Mrs. Ray was also in Iowa City. Sympathy of many friends go to the bereaved in their sorrow. Arrangements for the funeral will be announced later. The Ray home is at 1802 Boone street."
