Daughter of Rev. Joseph Huntington (1735-1794; FaG 11464677) and Hannah Devotion (1743-1771; FaG 11464665).

Frances had two older brothers:

Frances father remarried after his first wife, Hannah died. His second marriage was to Elizabeth Hale (1747-1806; FaG 40075278). To this marriage were born 9 children:

When Rev. Joseph Huntington died in 1794 (probably from the Yellow Fever Plague), his brother Samuel Huntington (1731-1796; FaG 2808) and his wife Martha Devotion (1739-1794; FaG 8135256 & Hannah's Sister), who had no children of their own, adopted, raised and educated Frances and her brother Samuel H. Huntington (1765-1817; FaG 21699). Uncle Samuel Huntington, the adoptive Dad, was President of Congress, Governor of Connecticut and one of the signors of the Declaration of Independence. Frances brother, Samuel H. Huntington, followed in his Uncle's foot steps and became Governor of Ohio.

On May 17, 1796, Frances married Rev. Edward Dorr Griffin, D.D. (1770-1837; FaG 143734649) a well educated and revered minister of the church.

To this marriage was born 2 children:
Frances Louisa Griffin (1801-1852; FaG 154551603), who married Dr. Lyndon A. Smith of Newark, New Jersey.
Ellen Maria Griffin (1810-1881), who married Rev. Robert Crawford of Adams, Massachusetts.
