Dr. Anthony Christopher Raunikar, 38, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, in Poteau. Rosary/Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Waldrop Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilburton Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Chris Daigle officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton. Born Aug. 24, 1964, in Hartshorne, he was the son of Paul and Patsy Christopher, Raunikar. He married Kasondra Battershell on May 10, 1997, in Marshall, Ark. He was of the Catholic faith and member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilburton. He was a member of the Lions Club in Poteau, and a member of the Oklahoma Optameric Association. He was a graduate of the College of Optometry at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He presently had a practice in both Wilburton and Poteau. Survivors include his wife, Kasondra Raunikar, of the home; his daughters, Madeline Rose Raunikar and Amelia Grace Raunikar, both of the home; his parents, Paul and Patsy Raunikar, of Wilburton. Also, his paternal grandmother, Mary Raunikar, of Wilburton; his maternal grandmother, Della Christopher, of Adamson; his brothers, Ronald Raunikar, Madison, Wis., and Laurence Raunikar, of Wilburton. And, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Tammy and Mark Roye, of Wilburton, and Theresa Raunikar, Los Angeles, Calif.; a nephew, Jared Roye, of Wilburton; his nieces, April Roye and Jill Roye, both of Wilburton and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Dr. Kelly Watkins, Dr. Randy Ennen, Dr. Lance Brown, Michael Berryhill, Dr. John Raunikar and Nils Raunikar. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Raunikar, Laurence Raunikar and Mark Roye. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and maternal grandfather.
