Raymond Louis Sedlacek, age 73, of 15520 Hwy Q, town of Gibson, passed away
unexpectedly Monday afternoon, April 26, 1999, of an apparent heart attack,
while planting the soil he loved so much.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 1999,
at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, in Tisch Mills.
Rev. Gerald B. Kempen, O. Praem will officiate with burial in the church
cemetery.
Ray was born May 22, 1925, in Two Rivers, son of the late Louis and Emma (Zeman)
Sedlacek. He graduated from Mishicot High School in 1942, and attended the
University of Wisconsin Farm Short Course. He married the former Dorothy Otradovec,
at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Norman, Wis., on August 27, 1949. The couple
would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in August. He farmed in the
town of Gibson, his entire life. Mr. Sedlacek was a member of Nativity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. He was an agent for 35 years
for the Mishicot Town Mutual Insurance Company and served as it's president for
ten years. He was also associated with the Eastern Town Mutual Insurance Company.
Raymond also served on the Camp Operations board of 4-H Camp Tapwingo for many
years. He enjoyed farming, and traveling, and had a special love for Polka music.
His children, grandchildren and wife loved him with all of their hearts.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and
Maria Elena Sedlacek, Mishicot, John and Cathy Sedlacek, Mishicot, Steven Sedlacek,
Eau Claire; one daughter Jeannine Sedlacek, and her special friend, Michael Arant,
Manitowoc; four grandchildren, April, Trevor and Derek Sedlacek, and Jeremy Mrotek;
one sister, Elaine Peterson, Glendale; one sister-in-law, Leola Otradovec, Waukesha;
he is also survive by two aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, and mother-in-law, William and
Josephine Otradovec; and infant sister, and one brother-in-law, William Otradovec,
Jr.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday (TONIGHT) at the Lambert Funeral Home,
Mishicot, and after 10 a.m. on Thursday, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, until the time of service 11 a.m. There will be parish
wake service at 7:30 p.m. (TONIGHT) at the funeral home.
