Born on January 19, 1948, in Dover, DE to Frank and Mary (Burris) Alexander; she grew up in Smyrna, DE.
She worked as a nurse's aide at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill. Ruth Ann enjoyed being a caretaker and was known as "Mom" to many. She also enjoyed being a teacher, her family, crocheting, flowers, and gardening, cooking and holidays.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Gilbert Milton Hugh Alford, her son Gilbert Michael Alford, and her brothers, Raymond Alexander, George Alexander, and David Alexander.
Ruth Ann is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Comer and Pamela Alford, son, Glen Alford, 7 grandchildren, Eric Alford, Willard Scott Jr., Daniele Delaney, Brian Singleton, James Alford, Nicholas Renzi, and Anthony Renzi.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 19th at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Viewing will be from 1 – 2pm. Service will begin at 2pm. Burial will follow in the Townsend Cemetery.
