Darren's first and last names together mean Greatly Blessed. He was just that to all who knew him. He was average height with a stout build, and as strong as he was sensitive. Darren showed grace to all in his path, and I never heard him utter an unkind word about anyone. Was he perfect? Nah, but he chose to be kind even if he didn't always receive that in return. His allergies were horrid, he stuttered when anxious, yet he was witty as they come and loved his family more than anything.
Darren loved to cook. He also liked to create self-made gifts. He put so much thought into what he crafted so it would be special for the recipient. He loved God and understanding the Bible. And he really loved Jen.
In so many ways, Darren had just found his niche. He & Jen were group home parents for challenging children. No doubt his impact through presenting God's word to them & his example would've been great! Instead, when he opened his eyes on June 12, 2021, Darren was in the presence of his Savior. I can only imagine!
Darren was born February 7, 1989 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Teresa Moore Bennett (now Sires) and Kelly Bennett. Darren was raised in Blanchard, Oklahoma and graduated Blanchard High School in 2008. He was a Wal Mart associate in their meat department for five years. Darren then attended Caddo Kiowa Vo-Tech in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma to study to become a chef. He was also employed by FedEx Freight.
Darren married the love of his life, Jennifer Myatt on Sept 21, 2019. They became house parents in April 2021 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Darren is preceded in death by two grandfathers, Coy Bennett and Melvin Moore. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Myatt Bennett of the home, his mother Teresa Sires (Frank) of Blanchard, OK, his father Kelly Bennett (Rhonda) of Tuttle, OK, his sister, Amanda Barber (Justin), his brother Cody Bennett of Blanchard, OK, his grandmothers Ruth Moore of Stillwater, OK, and Kay Bennett of Blanchard, OK, and several step siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Big D, we miss you!
