A Celebration of Roy P. Smith's Life, age 85, of Jasper, Texas will be 2pm, Friday, June 18, 2021 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
Visitation will be from 12~ 2pm, Friday, June 18, 2021 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
Roy P. Smith died Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Jasper.
A native of San Augustine, Texas and longtime resident of Jasper, Roy like gardening, fishing and boat riding. Roy enjoyed whittling wood into kid's names, boats and things like that. He retired from Austin Bridge and Moore Brothers as a construction superintendent and he also worked for Matthews for several years.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Yvonne Smith of Jasper, his son Roy Randal "Randy" Smith of Jasper, his daughters Kathryn Cunningham of Jasper and Sheri Cochran and husband Arthur of Jasper, his sister, Gladys Gallaway, nine grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Pink and Suzie Smith, his grandson, James Cunningham, great grandson, Hunter Caples, his brothers, J.W. Smith, Bobby Joe Smith, and Donald Smith, his sisters, Atrail Dohman and Hazel Rash.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Plaza, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
