Donna Zumwalt was born in Illinois where her father was stationed during part of his service in WWII. She was the second daughter of Noel Dwight Graber (1915-1989) and Helen Bertina Paulson (1913-2004). Soon after her birth, her father was reassigned to Portland, where they remained until moving to Albany, Oregon in about 1952. She was a graduate of Albany Union High School (Class of 1960). On October 07, 1960, Donna married William Floyd Zumwalt, the son of Amel and Helen Zumwalt, in Oregon. Donna and William had two children together: Terry and Angela. Donna passed away in Albany; her interment was in a valut near her parents in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
