John C. Kirchen, age 61, of 1433 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Friday evening, Feb. 17, 2006 at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County.
John was born March 3, 1944 in Manitowoc, son of the late Lester E. and Cecilia M. (Levanetz) Kirchen. He grew up and was educated in Manitowoc, attended Lincoln High School and graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary, in 1964. John served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 25,1991 he married Kimberlyn A. Korinek at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was employed at Weyerhauser Co. prior to his retirement.
John loved his family, reading biographies, watching sports, playing cards and World War II documentaries. He was a member of St. Isadore the Farmer parish, Nativity of the blessed Virgin Mary site, Tisch Mills.
Survivors include his wife; Kimberlyn, Manitowoc; two daughters: Jean'na (Shawn) Trindal, DePere; Beckie (Brent) Sinkula, Two Rivers; father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Elrene Korinek, Two Rivers; a brother: Lester R. (Diana) Dirchen, Manitowoc; a sister: Kathleen Kirchen, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Vienna and Shavon Trindal, Mason, Gavin and Savannah Sinkula; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a son, John Christopher, in 1973 and two brothers, Robert and Paul Kirchen
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at St. Isadore the Farmer Parish, Tish Mills. The Rev. Joseph Coopmans, O.Praem will officiate.
Relatives and friends may greet the family from 10 am to the time of liturgy at 11 am.
The staff of the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is serving the Kirchen Family.
