Margaret Ann Winter
May 12, 1942 - June 19, 2021

Margaret Ann Winter, age 79, of Eau Claire, formerly of Reedsville WI, passed away on June 19, 2021 at Care Partners Country Terrace in Altoona, WI, surrounded by her family.

Margaret was born on May 12, 1942 in Reedsville, daughter of the late Ignatius and Anna (Tausher) Kabat. She was a graduate of Reedsville High School, class of 1960. On July 3, 1962, she married James Arthur "Jim" Winter at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville. Margaret shared her skills at various places throughout her life. She began a career at Prochnow's Sentry Grocery Store of Reedsville and as a waitress at Kabat's Country Gardens Supper Club of Reedsville, her parents' business, and later became her brother Harold Kabat's business. She also served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Park-Lawn Estates of Manitowoc, WI and a Nursing Home in Whitelaw, WI until her health made it challenging for her to continue full-time employment. Margaret also sold Avon and Watkins when she was able, and provided home care for several years to Butch and Linda Peters of Brillion, WI. She was very particular and took great care of herself, always having beautiful hair, polished nails, and people often complimented her about her amazing long eye lashes. In her spare time, she would create ceramics which were often given as gifts to other people, enjoyed camping and traveling with Jim and her son Larry, she was in love with Elvis Presley and was a life-long member of the local "Hound Dog Club" which includes many "Pups" and spent time as a Eucharistic Minister and Church Choir Member. Margaret assisted Jim for 21 years with the Reedsville Firefighters Parade line up, was a member of the Reedsville Lioness Club, was a Catholic Knights member and secretary for 32 years, and just liked to be with people. Because of her love for Mother Mary she could often be seen praying the rosary or listing to it on EWTN.

She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Jim of Eau Claire; their son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Paula (Ashbeck) of Eau Claire, WI; three grandchildren and their families: McKenzie (Jacob) Couch and their children: Elijah, Seth, and Daniel all of Menominee WI, Katrina Stansbury of Menominee WI, and Lexi Stansbury of Lake Hallie WI; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jeanne Kabat of Oshkosh WI, Carlyis Hillman of New Holstein, Judy (Ronald) Urban of Chilton, and Wayne Winter and special friend Diane Kabat of New Holstein WI; goddaughter: Vicki (Roger) Bowe of Cape Coral, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Walter and Irene; her siblings and in-laws: Virginia (Peter) Polster, Harold (Bernice and La Verne) Kabat, and Mary Hillman; and other relatives.

Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Immediately following the Mass, a meal of broasted chicken, Margaret's favorite food, will be served at Cobblestone Restaurant, Brillion WI. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Father Tom Pomeroy and Deacon Greg Van Thiel. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
