Joseph Clifford Courville was born on August 4, 1928 to Avie and Delia Richard Courville in Basile, Louisiana. He worked in his father's sawmill until he left home.

Mr. Courville moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana after his marriage to Hattie Opal Sonnier.
While in Lake Charles, Mr. Courville worked for Olin Chemical Corporation for 38 years as a laboratory analyst.
He was also the commander of the Lake Charles squadron of the Civil Air Patrol for 30 years.
He was affectionately known as "Colonel."

Mr. Courville's loves were God, his wife, his family, and flying. He now flies among the golden clouds of Heaven.

He was called home to Jesus with his loving wife by his side on December 15, 2005. Funeral services were held at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles, LA on Dec. 16, 2005 at 1:30 pm.
The Rev. Scott DesOrmeaux officiated. Burial was in Prien Memorial Park.

Mr. Courville is survived by his wife of 57 years, Opal Courville; three sons, Mike Courville of Sulphur, LA, Keith Courville of Reeves, LA, and Kurt Courville of Lake Charles, LA; one daughter Christina Doucet of Catahoula, LA; three sisters, Emily Christ of Lake Charles, LA, Irene Courville of Basile, LA, Jeanette Savoie of Creole, LA; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
