Marion was born to Leo B. and Ethel C. (Hunt) Tobey, in Michigan. After her marriage to Dwight H. Barnes, 13 Sept. 1941, in Michigan, they moved to Modesto, California, then Turlock, Fresno, and Merced for many years, before settling in Oakhurst, California. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sierra Historical Sites Association, first executive director of Fresno Area Girl Scouts Council.
She is survived by her husband Dwight of Oakhurst. They had three children, Tobey of Shasta, Ben of Petaluma and Madge Tamber of Pennsylvania. Seven grandchildren.
