Appleton - Howard Hanlon, age 99, joined his wife and son in eternal life at Oak Park Place on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Howard was born West Allis, Wisconsin, to Richard Hanlon and Bertha (Krocht) Hanlon on May 27, 1919. He married Grace Emma Kerscher on July 27, 1940; she preceded him in death in 2004. Howard proudly served in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet in WWII from 1943 until 1946. After working as a master plumber for many years, Howard retired from Kimberly Clark. Following retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Sacred Heart Church. Howard was proud to be a member of the American Legion, Post 38.

He is survived by his sons: Bruce (Ellen) Hanlon and Jim (Sandy) Hanlon. His grandchildren are Carrie (Jeff) Berge, Gregg (Tina) Hanlon, Deanna Hanlon, and Brian Hanlon; five great- grandchildren, Todd (fiancée Erika) Hanlon, Kathryn Hanlon, Max Hanlon, Sawyer Hanlon, and Grace Hanlon; as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family Sharon and Ella Huss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of sixty three years, Grace, a son Dennis, sisters Ruth (Dave) Wiegand and Hazel (Ginter) Krause, and by brothers Emil (Delores) Grall and Lawrence (Dorothy) Grall.

The funeral liturgy for Howard will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street in Appleton. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Burial will full military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
