Jane Ann Spevacek Kaufmann, 81, passed away June 10, 2021, at her home in Warrenville, Illinois.

Jane was born in Two Rivers Wisconsin, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Eller) Spevacek. She started school in a one-room school house, graduated from Mishicot high school, and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in journalism. She moved to Milwaukee and then to Chicago to work for a publishing companies. She married Richard Kaufmann at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. When she was younger, she enjoyed dancing with friends, driving her uncle Hankie's car, bowling, and playing the flute in band. Later, she became passionate about downhill skiing with family and friends, and often traveled to ski slopes out west, Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, and once to Austria with her friend Elaine McGovern. She spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren Dillan Gould and CJ Kaufmann, taking them to many museums, gardens, and events. Later in life, she volunteered as a tutor for the Illinois Youth Correctional facility in Batavia, IL, and was an avid reader. She loved sharing family time with her son, attending the Aurora Paramount theater with her daughter, and catching other theater/concerts with her friend Marge Steinhoff.

Jane was a member of St. Irene's Catholic Parish in Warrenville, Illinois but wanted to be buried with her parents at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mishicot.

She is survived by her children: Dr. Kira Kaufmann, Argonne, WI, and Craig (Lea Jolley-Kaufmann) Kaufmann, Elgin, IL; grandchildren Dillan (Kelly) Gould, Boynton Beach, FL and Craig Richard Kaufmann, Elgin, IL; step-grand-daughter Juliette Jolley, Elgin, IL; Great-grandson Jackson Gould, Boynton Beach, FL; Brother Jack (Donna) Spevacek, Two Rivers, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Spevacek, her uncle Henry Eller Jr., and ex-husband Richard Kaufmann.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with internment of her cremated remains to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mishicot.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Saturday July 10th, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
