His Epitaph.
Here lies the body of Lieut. Elijah Foster,
who died of the small-pox, January 14, 1777.
in the forty-second year of his age,
on his return from the army.
Inspired with freedom and her virtuous cause, To save his country from a tyrant's laws, Resolved an end to the unnatural strife, And in the glorious conflict, lost his life.
