Willard D. Amos

POCAHONTAS — Willard D. Amos, 83, died at his home Sunday, November 11, 2007.

Mr. Amos was born April 16, 1924, at Agnos to the late Isom J. and Bertha Bates Amos.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and received a campaign ribbon with two Bronze stars, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and two overseas service bars.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, post commander of American Legion Post 6, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4556.

Survivors include his wife, Launa McCormick Amos of the home; daughters, Patricia Amos Corballis of Little Rock and Mona Amos Saala of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Shannon Corballis and Karen Corballis of Little Rock and Natasha Saala Wheeler of Pocahontas; four great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; a brother, David Amos of St. Louis; and sister, Marie Hoffman of Westland, Mich.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Don Strait officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Promberger-Traw Post 4556.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund.
