Dublin Shore- The community was shocked to hear of the passing of the only little daughter of Captain and Mrs. Leo Bell, at the early age of five years and ten months. Joan was of a bright, sunny disposition and a favourite with all. She was sick only three weeks and hopes were held for her recovery until a few days before she died when she developed brain trouble and her suffering was acute. She leaves to mourn their loss, her sorrowing parents; one brother, Robert, age nine; grandmother and several aunts and uncles. The father is on his way to Lunenburg from the West Indies and will be greatly shocked to learn of his loss. The funeral service was held on Monday with a short service at the house at one o'clock, and then at Knox Presbyterain Church. Rev. D. W. MacDonald conducted the service speaking from II Samuel 12:3. Hymns sung were "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "There is a Friend for Little Children," and "When He Cometh." The pall-bearers were Messrs. Lloyd Fridenburg, Parker Hayward, Roy and Everette Adams. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery. (written on obit - Apr 20, 1940)
