Mary and her husband did not have children. They enjoyed each others company very much. They had a good life in Chicago. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1977 when Irving began having health problems. They later moved to Florida, where he died in 1986. Mary was born a daughter of Ralph and Nellie (Robinson) Deitrich. She married Irving A. Johnson in Chicago on Dec. 25, 1938.
Survivors include one sister: Louise Turner, Pontiac; one brother: Donald Thompson, Columbus, Ohio; and four nieces and nephews including, Susan Turner, Arvada, Colo. She was preceded in death by one sister. Mary was educated in Chicago schools and had worked for Illinois Bell in Arlington Heights for 16 years, retiring in 1975.
