Was a well-known traveling hardware salesman. He was married to Anna Belle Mason Nott.
His grandfather was the ounder of Union College in New York and his father had been a member of the New York Supreme Court.
He and Anna had 3 daughters and a son. Interred in the mausoleum are Robert, Anna Belle and their son, Benjamin. Their daughter, Elizabeth is interred outide the mausoleum.
(Note of interest: Robert built the brick mausoleum. When inspected for damage, it had 2 rocking chairs in it. There also is a fireplace. The story is that Robert went daily to the mausoleum and read the paper aloud to Anna Belle, and if it was cold, he would build a fire in the fireplace.)
