James Monroe (Sonny) Johnson, a long-time farmer rancher of Perrin, TX passed away July 3, 2021. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10 a.m. July 6, 2021 at Perrin Church of Christ in Perrin, TX. Visitation will be held one hour earlier in the church annex. Burial will follow at Perrin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Perrin Church of Christ.

Sonny was born August 1, 1924 in Paducah TX, second son to Harve Franklin and Bessie Maddux Johnson.

After returning from two years of service in WWII (served in the Philippines, Germany, and Austria), Sonny met and married Anne Fisher on September 18, 1947. They moved to the farm near Perrin in 1951. Sonny worked almost 30 years for TXU and worked his farm raising peanuts and cattle. He continued with the farm until semi-retirement in his 80s. Sonny and Anne raised four boys.

Papa, or Papa Sonny, always a patient man, always had time to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sonny and Anne were faithful members of the Perrin Church of Christ.

Sonny was preceded in death by his siblings Howard, Wilma, and Nina. He is survived by his wife Anne Fisher Johnson (married 73 years), four sons Eddie (Denise) of Weatherford, Ricky (Cheri) of Mineral Wells, Donny (Samantha) of Weatherford and Monty (Terra) of Arlington. He is also survived by eight grandchildren - Kevin (Kellie), Mark, Neil, Scott, Christina (Jimmy) Sliger, Mickey (Don), Shane (Katya), Christopher and nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
