Nancy Lee Bratton, age 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 5, 2021, after a long illness.
Nancy was born in Pennsylvania to Don and Elise Watts.
Nancy lived most of her childhood in Virginia with no electricity or running water. Nancy excelled in school and had a talent for singing and playing the piano and guitar.
Nancy moved with her parents to New Mexico when her dad, Don Watts, found work as a horseshoer in the Rio Grande Valley.
Nancy worked as a Mountain Bell telephone operator in Washington DC before moving to New Mexico. Nancy was a popular server in local cafés in the 1960s,1970s and 1980s. Nancy found her greatest passion working at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School and became a fierce advocate for the clients there. All while being a single mom and caring for her own two children with special needs.
Nancy also loved gardening and her beloved dogs, Lulu and Riley. Nancy had a strong faith and belonged to the Southern Baptist Church.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Bratton, father, Don Watts, mother, Elsie Watts, sister, Carol Mann, daughter, Kaley Anne (Brophy) and nephew, Donald Guthrie.
Nancy is survived by two sons, Michael and John Brophy of Belén, step-son, Dwayne Bratton of Albuquerque, niece, Nancy Beltran of Idaho, nephew, Jeff Guthrie and her aunt, Nora Vargo of Michigan.
Nancy has been cremated and no services are scheduled.
