Rhodes, Alan Dale 11/1/1952 - 10/26/2020 Waycross, GA Alan Dale Rhodes passed away peacefully on Monday, 26 October 2020, with family in attendance. Although born in Detroit, Alan and family moved to Parma, Michigan where he grew up. He graduated from Western High School with the Class of 1971. After high school, Alan enlisted into the United States Airforce. He was stationed in Germany as part of his tour of duty. When his own life was rough, Alan was still there for people in need. The harshness of life created within him a compassion for others. Every Thanksgiving, Alan would prepare a meal for those less fortunate than himself. If someone did not have a family or anywhere to go, he invited the person to his Thanksgiving feast. Alan was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army for several years in various communities across southern Michigan. Periodically, as friends fell on hard times or their living situations became unstable, he would take them in and provide support until they were on their own. Alan was preceded in death by his parents Erksel and Sophie Rhodes. Alan sadly leaves behind dear friends in Michigan, Oklahoma, and Georgia. We wish to thank the medical team at the ICU East at Satilla Medical Center in Waycross, Georgia for the wonderful care they provided and their support to Alan's family. Alan will receive a military funeral at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan .
