Beloved husband, father, grandfather & friend Rev. Jesse Arnold Callaway was called home to live with the Lord & the Angels on Monday, July 5, 2021.
Jesse left this world while in the comfort of his home at the age of 90.
He was born on the 12th day of December 1930 in Elmwood, Texas to parents Edward Earl & Ethel Conaway Callaway.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Jean Callaway, his parents, his son Gary Lynn Callaway and five brothers.
Jesse graduated from Palestine High School and was Ordained to Preach the Word in July 1956. He retired from TDJC in 2001. He was a former Pastor and present member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Palestine, Texas.
Jesse was a music enthusiast and a beloved guitar player & performer in his community and church and always willing to contribute.
Left to cherish his memories are: his wife Virginia Callaway of Palestine; his daughter Judye Anne Callaway of Palestine; and grandchildren Brandon Lynn Welch, Lacye LeAnne Thatcher, Sheli Ann Jones, Keli Anne Foley and their spouses; seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by Virginia's granddaughter Kristin and great granddaughter Mady Rials.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Danny Earl Herod, Jerry Fort, Henry York, Wes Tinney, Jerry Ham and Sammy Overton.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
