Jean (Mumbrue) Huffman, age 89 of Waupaca passed away peacefully at home with her family after a hard fought 11 year battle with cancer. Jean was born in Waupaca on July 21, 1931, the daughter of Harmon and Marion (Robbins) Mumbrue.
Jean graduated from Wild Rose High School in 1949. She married Lawrence Huffman in 1952 and they moved to the Neenah area where they raised their 4 children. They later divorced but remained friends. After raising their children, Jean went back to school to become a nurse and moved back to the Wild Rose area where she was a nurse at the Wild Rose Hospital. She later retired from WR Hospital as the Director of Pharmacy and Purchasing.
Jean is survived by her daughters Dawn Huffman (Lori Potratz) of Neenah and Victoria Strey of Waupaca; son Ron (Heidi) Huffman of Waupaca; 4 grandchildren - Matthew (Lynn) Strey of Hortonville, Michelle Strey (Marshal Young) of Gypsum, CO, Amber Jean Bayer of Wild Rose, and Danny Huffman (Taylor Carr) of Waupaca; two great granddaughters - Elizabeth Young and Gracelyn Jean Bayer, as well as a great granddaughter due in February. Jean is further survived by her sister Joan Jackelen of Eau Claire, WI, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her son Daniel and her parents.
In light of the current pandemic, the family will have a private ceremony in the near future with a Celebration of Life next summer.
The family would like to thank ThedaCare at Home Hospice; especially Krissy, Julie, and Paula for their help in making Jean's last days as comfortable as possible. We are very grateful to them. Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences available at www.hollyfuneralhome.com.
