My grandfather was a small boy when the family left for Kansas and was working in the fields before the family returned to southern Illinois the summer of 1891. He went to school in Lively Grove and at the age of 22 married Lina Kerby. She died a few years later in 1905 giving birth to their only child, my father, William David Robinson. He never remarried.

John and his brother , George, raised hunting dogs that they sold to the hunters around Livingston County, IL in the early 1900's. He was a very good Stone Mason when he came to Pontiac in 1910 and has lived here since.

At the 1937 Pontiac, Illinois Centennial, John and his Brothers and Cousins, won the Blue Ribbon in the Square Dance Contest. He called square dances and was a good fiddle player
