Arlie Elmer Hughes, 81, of Beckley, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012.
Born August 29, 1930, he was the son of the late James and Rebecca Sisk Hughes.
Arlie loved sports, shooting pool, and attending the boxing and tough man contests and enjoyed fishing. Arlie was a retired coal miner and attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Coal City for many years.
In addition to his parents, Arlie is preceded in death by his brother, Basil Hughes; sisters, RubyHughes and Wanda White.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife , three daughters , two sons, tow stepdaughters, 13 grandchildren , 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister ; also several nieces and nephews survive.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
