She was born May 14, 1927, to the late Charles Raymond Rogers and James Ola Bell Rogers.
She and her husband were owners of Rooks Farm Service, which they opened in 1960. Etta was a lifelong member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Melza Rooks and wife Libby of Burgaw and James Michael Rooks and wife Barbara of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Dewey Rivenbark, Jr. and wife Michelle, Michael Rivenbark and wife Angie, JoAnn Rivenbark Jones and husband Jeremiah, Jeff Rooks and wife Ginny, Sabra Rooks Permar and husband Chip and Jay Rooks and fiancée Valerie; sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melza Allison Rooks; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rivenbark; sisters, Helen Daniels and Ola Ball and brothers, Elmore Rogers, Raymond Rogers and Jim Rogers.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Riley's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. E.C. Mattocks officiating.
The family will receive visitors one hour prior, beginning at noon.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Rooks, Jay Rooks, Patrick Rivenbark, Frank Rogers, Phil Daniels and Stan Rogers.
