He was a retired U. S. Navy Chief Petty Officer (Hospital Corpsman). While on active duty he met and fell in love with a Navy nurse named Mary. Since officers and enlisted could no "fraternize" she resigned her commission so they could be married.
Jarrett Durwood Capshaw was the son of George R. Capshaw and Sarah Francis (Stone) Capshaw. Sarah Francis Stone was my grandfathers sister. Jarrett was named after my great grandfather William Jarrett Stone.
