Earl R. Daetz, age 78, of 3232 Adams St., Two Rivers, passed away on April 12, 2007.

Earl was born on April 7, 1929, in Two Rivers, son of the late Bruno and Clara Cerull Daetz. He attended St. John's Lutheran School and Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1947. He was a proud crew member of the USS Bergall in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. He attained the rank of petty officer Second Class Electricians Mate during the Korean Conflict. Earl married the former Yvonne Bohm on Feb. 23, 1952, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Together they raised two children while Earl pursued a 35 year career as an insurance agent, retiring in 1991. Earl was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the U.S. Submarine Veterans, and the National Rifle Association. In his spare time. Earl loved telling jokes, fishing at the lake, and the Green Bay Packers.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Vonnie, of Two Rivers: as well as a son: Brian, of Milwaukee; son-in-law: Joe Webster, of Green Bay; cherished grandson: Ryan E. Webster, of Green Bay; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Joyce and Russell Stoer, of Two Rivers: and Lavern Ross, of Manitowoc; one brother: Neil Daetz, of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Brenda Webster.

A memorial service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. It was Earl's wish to be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, in Earl's honor.

The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Manitowoc, is assisting the Daetz family with funeral arrangements.

Vonnie and Brian wish a heartfelt thank you to the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association; special volunteer: Arlene; niece und nephews: Lora and Jerry Valenta, Kris Stoer; and wonderful neighbors: Andrea Koehler, Craig Milner, and Ann Suettinger.

While we are saddened by our loss, we give thanks to God for Earl's faith in Jesus Christ and our unshakable certainty that through God's promise, Earl has preceded us into unimaginable comfort and glory.
