Edna Mae Shifflett passed away in Northridge, CA and is under the care of Bastian and Perrott, Oswald Mortuary.
Edna Mae Shifflett passed away peacefully at the age of 77. She is survived by a loving family that includes her four sons Karl, Matthew, David, and Scott, 9 grandchildren, and 9 of her 12 brothers and sisters.
Born in Washington DC and raised in Cottage City, Maryland, Edna was the fourth of 13 children born to Howard and Selma Compton. After earning her AA degree at San Fernando Valley State, and her RN from Pierce College in 1974, where she graduated with honors. Edna worked as a nurse at Serra Memorial Hospital. She was instrumental in unionizing the nurses at the hospital.
Edna will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, who gave generously of her time, money, and spirit to many charities. Edna was an avid bridge player. A proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Granada Hills Women's Club and Friends of the library.
Services will be held Friday, July 12th, at 10 AM, at the First Presbyterian Church of Granada Hills, located at 10400 Zelzah Ave, Granada Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either Children International or American Cancer Society.
