ROGER A. WENTORF

Roger Allan Wentorf, age 76, passed away surrounded by his family on Feb. 16, 2007, at the Select Specialty Hospital, of West Allis, after a prolonged illness.
Roger was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Two Rivers, to parents Hubert and Matilda (Zermuehlen) Wentorf. He was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, and attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and Madison. On Dec. 8, 1961. Roger married his one true love, Joyce Walker, formerly of Sparta. Together they lovingly raised their two children: Brenda and Karl. In 1993 he retired from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation District 1 after 38 years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends while hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. He was an avid reader and loved word puzzles. Roger also was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years: Joyce Wentorf; two children: Brenda, of Madison and Karl, of Chicago; brother: Warren (Bernice), of Two Rivers; brothers-in-law: Hilary Vanderbloemen, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Howard Gerson, of Madison; sister-in-law: Jeanne Baumbach, of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Ruth Vanderbloemen; Myrna Gerson; and Joyce Hiese; and brother-in-law: Cliff Hiese.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
