Zephaniah was one of first settlers of the Rock Creek area of Nemaha County Kansas, just a few miles north of Sabetha Kansas. He married Alsemena Joy in 1849 in Kane County Illinois. Alsemena was married to Jessie M. Joy who I believe died between 1846 and 1849. Zephaniah and Alsemena are in the 1870 census in Lewis, Holt County Missouri where he owned a drug store in Forest City, Missouri. Jerome Joy born 1836 was adopted and became Jerome Archer. Zephaniah is buried next to Jerome in the Rock Creek Cemetary in northeast Kansas. There is no head stone for Zephania. His obituary states that this is where he was buried.
