John Martin Valleskey, age 66, of Encinitas, Calif., formerly of Manitowoc, died Monday. Jan. 8, 2007, at a hospital in Southern Calif., following a battle with cancer.
John was born May 14, 1940, in Manitowoc, son of the late Leslie J. and Grace (Koutnik) Valleskey. John was a 1958 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, and a 1962 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Having moved to the southwest in the 1960s, John worked in the real estate industry until the time of his illness. Although he never married or had children, John had many close friends in the San Diego area of California. His passions were organic vegetarianism, San Diego Padres baseball, and talk radio.
John will be sadly missed by his surviving family members, sisters: Barbara Gonzales of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Diane Wick, Manitowoc; brother and sister-in-law: George and Rachelle Valleskey, Manitowoc: stepbrothers: Bruce and Curt Christiansen of California: and stepmother: Irene Valleskey, Manitowoc. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A prayer and life celebration service was held Jan. 12, 2007, in Encinitas, Calif. The family will hold a private burial service.
