Mr. James E. Spindler Sr., 80, of 3607 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Monday, April 10, 1989, at Park Lawn Nursing Home, Manitowoc.
Memorial service will be 11 am Friday, April 21, at St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc. Father David Klutterman will officiate with cremation having taken place. His ashes will be placed in the columbarium of the church.
Mr. Spindler was born January 27, 1909 at Manitowoc, son of the late Edwin C. and Hazel Martin Spindler. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated from Lawrence College. Mr. Spindler was President of Spindler Company, Manitowoc. He married Letitia Champion, September 19, 1931 at Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Mr. Spindler was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. In 1951 he received the Charles E. Broughton Conservation Award. In 1952 he was State President of the Isaac Walton League of America. In 1966 he was named the Chairman of the Manitowoc County Petroleum Council. He was a member of the Manitowoc Rotary Club, Manitowoc Ducks Unlimited; former president of the Little Gallery and Manitowoc Masonic Lodge No. 65 F. and A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Letitia of Manitowoc; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Genevieve Spindler of Germantown, Wisconsin, Fredric and Lynn Spindler of Darien, Connecticut, Christopher Spindler of Weaverville, North Carolina and Jane Spindler of Manitowoc; a brother and sister-in-law, Atty. John M. and Florence Spindler of Manitowoc; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ed Johnson of Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, David and a brother.
