Dorothy G. Leischner, 80, a longtime Valders area resident, died on October 8, 2016 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.
Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center in Manitowoc and a memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday at the Christianson & Deja Funeral Home in Valders. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 am until 10:45 am.
Dorothy was born on October 6, 1936 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn Bergel Remaker. She was a graduate of Mishicot High School. On July 20, 1965 she married Elden Leischner in LaVerne, Minn. Dorothy was employed in customer service with TDS Telecom until her retirement in 2001. She enjoyed volunteering and was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Valders. Dorothy was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 28 of Valders. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and entertaining and always made people feel welcome in her home.
Survivors include her husband, Elden Leischner of Valders, one son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Jody Leischner of Valders; one step-son, Paul Leischner of Manitowoc; two grandchildren, Samantha "Sammi" and Mark. Also surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Judy Remaker of Manitowoc; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jessie and Ronald Pautz of Manitowoc and Barbara and Earl Griffin of Valders; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one sister, Maryanne Mathieson and one brother, Harold Remaker.
The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home of Valders and All-Care Cremation Center in Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
