CLIFFORD E. LARSON
(1928 - 2010)

Clifford E. Larson, 82, of Oshkosh, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, due to complications of hereditary hemophilia.

He was born in Rice Lake, Wis., on May 31, 1928, son of Casper P. and Augusta Kinn Larson. On June 19, 1954, he married Winifred Wentorf in Two Rivers, Wis. Clifford was a graduate of New London High School. He earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He became the first to earn a Ph.D. in marketing from UW-Madison. He also played in the UW marching band.

After graduation, he went on to hold positions with several companies and universities, including: Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad; University of Colorado; Ford Motor Co.; WC Heath and Associates; Robert A. Johnston Cookie Co. (where he was instrumental in the development of the graham cracker crust); UW-Milwaukee associate dean of the School of Business; and UW-Oshkosh dean of the College of Business. Some of the accomplishments achieved while he held that position were that UW-Oshkosh became the first school in the former state university system to receive national accreditation by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business; first fully regional graduate program in business in Wisconsin; and the first off-campus graduate program to receive national accreditation. Cliff also returned to teaching while at UW-Oshkosh.

Cliff served on the board of directors of Prange's Department Stores, Time Insurance, National Railway Society, Buckta Packaging and the Oshkosh Symphony (past president). He also created or expanded many other programs to meet the needs of the business community. He and his wife were members of the First Congregational Church in Oshkosh.

Cliff is survived by his wife: Winifred Larson of Oshkosh; children: Karl (Cyndy) Larson; David (Anne) Larson; Ann (Thomas) Hutchins; and Jane Larson; and grandchildren: Erik, Kyle, Kaitlin, Christine, Jennifer, Ryan and Andrew.

Some organizations that benefit from Cliff's support include the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation and the National Association of Congregational Churches.

Private family services will be held. He will be inurned in Pioneer Rest Cemetery in Two Rivers, Wis. A public memorial service will be conducted at some time in the future.

Assisting the family is Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes & Crematory.
