Gerhardt (Kuby) Kubitz, age 97, of 4815 River Heights Dr., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, November 26, 1996, at his residence.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 1996, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. Rev. James Barnes will officiate. Cremation will have taken place. The family will greet friends at the church fellowship hall after the memorial services.

He was born July 3, 1899, in Appleton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albertise Kubitz. He served with the United States Army during World War I and graduated from Lawrence College with the class of 1921. He married Marie R. Morris June 19, 1926, and the couple celebrated 70 years of marriage this past June. The couple settled in Manitowoc after their marriage and Mr. Kubitz retired in 1966 from Mirro Aluminum Company as the executive vice president and a member of the Mirro Board of Directors after 42 years of employment. Mr. Kubitz was very involved in local activities and had served as President of the Manitowoc School Board, President of Silver Lake College Board, President of Memorial Hospital Board, Chairman of the original YMCA Finance committee, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a member of the Mayor's Advisory Board, a member of the Manitowoc Masonic Lodge, a member of Branch River Country Club; received the Lions distinguished Service Award and the Manitowoc Two Rivers Chamber of Commerce Joseph P. Schmitt Award. He also served as President of the National Housewares Association.

Survivors include his wife, Marie R. Kubiz, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Emerson, Hagerstown, Md.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Marie Kubitz, Manitowoc, Chuck and Carolyn Kubitz, Media, Ohio; four grandchildren, Lynn (Rick) Bloom, Kirk (Shelly) Noonan, Kim (Tom) Sockman, Kathy (Jim) Ciao; two great-grandsons, Brett Bloom and Chris Finster. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to the YMCA, the Manitowoc Library Fund or St. Paul United Methodist Church.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the Kubitz family with arrangements.
